I promise you I honestly went into 2016 with the intention of writing a blog every week but that obviously didn't happen...oops! Lots has happened over the past few months and it's been a lot of fun.
I've joined the team at Bido Lito! - Im still very new to it, but so far i've photographed 2 gigs and gave a good old attempt at a review. It's been really good so far, I get to go to watch more live music which I absolutely love, and I get to share my work in a really cool Liverpool Music Magazine. I've always found it pretty damn challenging photographing a gigs, lighting always get's me and reminds me I still have a lot to learn about photography. Check out the Bido Lito! at www.bidolito.co.uk and various shops around Liverpool/Wirral. Keep an eye out for my work!
I've been loving getting back into photographing gigs again, it's definitely my favourite way to spend an evening - watching and photographing gigs. If you're a band looking for a photographer give me a shout! If thats a gig or a band shoot, i'm up for the challenge! A new exciting band I've been working with is Pure Joy, watch this space on that one but definitely check out their album, they're definitely ones to watch in the up and coming Liverpool Music scene.
On that note, music I'm loving right now:
Clean Cut Kid, Victoria, The Lottery Winners, Chris Stapleton, The 1975 and Foals!
I love adding my favourite music to playlists called some pretty random names. Check them out on Spotify by searching 'Georgia Flannel Flynn'.
MORE EXCITING NEWS! This site showcases all my personal collection of stuff I have made and loved over these years, but I am now part of an exciting department we have launched in work. Follow us on social media @mediahiimpact and check out our work www.hi-impact.media. Looking forward to what's ahead with the lovely team of creative humans behind hi-impact media!
On a rather random note, I am trying something new to tackle my lack of love for the gym. I've tried loving the gym, i've tried various contracts, prices and none of them work. Like many, I never have the motivation to drag myself there and work surrounded by people with absolute guns looking flawless. For any of you who followed my Youtube Vlogs as I ventured around Thailand and Cambodia last year, you will know I endured a week of Muay Thai boxing in Chiang Mai. I loved it there so I decided to start it properly! I'm now in my third week at MMA Academy Liverpool training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai, very different to the whole 'gym' experience but so far its boss, really motivating and a great chance to learn something really interesting. Who knows one day I may be able to walk down the road without being reminded how unfit I really am?!
Right, thats enough for one day. As we celebrated International Women's Day this week, I think its only right to leave you with one thing. Women, it's important you support other women. Men, its important you support women. Why do we need to have a day to celebrate women? Because gender equality is not yet a reality, and we can not stop until it is. We need IWD to remind people that it the fight for equality is not just for them, but for every woman in the world. Fight for the 62 million girls who don't have access to an education. For every woman who has every experienced sexual harassment. For every woman who has been told they been to 'man up'. For every woman who does the same job as a male colleague and accepts less pay because of her gender. For the women across the world who aren't allowed to leave the house without their husbands. For the women who can not for any reason stand up for their own rights.
It's been a busy few months but I will try and be less flakey and post more!
Thanks for reading!
